Corrales Arts Center offers and nurtures arts and cultural opportunities that unite our diverse community through the experience and support of all arts.
Corrales Arts Center enhances people’s lives, by making the arts a common experience of everyday life and learning.
The concept of developing a local arts center with its cultural and economic benefits grew out of a long range project of the Corrales Kiwanis Foundation in August 2009. This idea blossomed over time with the result that the Corrales Arts Center was organized holding its first meeting on February 16, 2011. Today, the Corrales Arts Center (CAC) is a vital, growing organization sponsoring ongoing events such as cultural salons, classes for adults and children held at Corrales Elementary School and culturally related projects and workshops such as the Horno Project.
In describing the characteristics of this long range project for a community arts and cultural organization and facility, the Kiwanis foundation summarized their vision of the end result of this project with two charts depicting the Program Model and the Business Model of the resulting organization. These models, developed by Kiwanis member, John Derr and others, form the basis for the vision of the future for CAC. Attainment of all the features of these models will take some time, but the inherent benefits of the enrichment of our cultural life and the economic benefits the community will reap are be well worth the effort involved in bringing them to reality.
