In an effort to learn to “DRAW,” as Artists, we must learn to “SEE.” Students will learn how to engage the “creative” or “right” side of their brains. At first, it may seem like an impossible challenge, but very quickly, they will realize that it is an awesome “tool,” which each of us has. We will use as a reference, the book “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain,” by Betty Edwards. We will study the following: Line; Edges; Negative Space; Value; and Texture. Together, they complete a “drawing.” You will be encouraged to do drawing exercises at home, as well as in class. Demonstration of techniques will be presented and included in the learning process. You will be amazed at your accomplishments! Don’t allow “anxiety” to keep you from taking this class. Join us and learn something “FUN” and “NEW!”

Patricia (Patty) Kruger is an award-winning, published New Mexico Artist, working in many media. She was first inspired by a hand-painted plate in her Grandmother’s China Cabinet. After moving to Santa Fe 31 years ago, she registered to take the Class, “Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain,” at the Santa Fe Community College. It literally changed her life! After dedicating two years to the study of Drawing, Design, and Color, she began taking Painting Instruction Classes. She has studied with many renowned Artists, and now works in Oil, Watercolor, Acrylic, Porcelain, Mixed Media, Pastel, Photography, and the design of one-of-a-kind Beaded Jewelry. A friend recently asked her if she, “does anything that is not artistic,” to which she answered, “probably not!” Art pervades her life!
